2026, Small animals

Small animal practical was awesome. Almost every single vet spoke good English and were excited to teach us. The staff were friendly and had a welcoming attitude, they were interested in teaching and helping us.
We had a rotation in surgery/internal medicine/cardiology/opthamology/exotics/dermatology/orthopedics/anesthesiology/diagnostic imaging/emergency and ICU. The days were mostly mon-fri 9-5 but we also had a few weekend on call shifts. The work pace was quite slow.
The vets were of course speaking latvian to the owners but they would translate everything during or after the appointment, most of the diagnostics were done together with the vets and we got to do a lot and try almost everything.
I highly recommend asking a week or two at the surgery department, it was definitely the best one. I also recommend going there during the winter break because the local students are on a holiday, so it was just me and my classmate present at the clinic for most of the practical.

You can ask me more if interested!
